"Whether you at or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God."
--1 Corinthains 10:31--
When we think of food as a friend that comforts us or an enemy that makes us fat, we miss the wonder of receiving with gratitude a splendid gift from God. Obsessive eating or not eating indicates that we are focused on the gift rather than on the GIver, which is a form of idolatry.
When eating becomes a true act of worship, we will no longer worship food.
When food becomes our god, our appetite for the Bread of Life is diminished.
forgive me Lord, when i become greedy and overexert my stomach. forgive me when i did not resist temptations. Help me O Lord to remember that my body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, that I should be keeping it clean, that I should be honoring you even in how and what i eat. I give thanks that you have provided and bless me with so much good food, but Lord help me to remember that you have also given me the wisdom to know when to stop, and how much to consume. May i not take your blessings for granted.
