ENCORE!!! ENCORE!!!

ZHANG HAN LIN'S 21st ANNIVERSARY THANKSGIVING CONCERT!!!

Last night, i went for a concert... Zhang Han Lin 21st Anniversary Thanksgiving Concert... it was fantastical!!!

Zhang Han Lin is a Chinese singer in his 40s, yet he looked like a young guy in his 20s. Right now, even as i write, i am listening to his songs. His singing is really superb and he is so natural and at home even on the stage... You can really see that singing is his thing and is his life... besides God that is.

I am very inspired and amazed last night. You can really see his emotions as he sings... i tell you, it is better than any Singapore Idol, etc. His actions just totally flows with his songs. His energetic self that cant be still. His engaging spirit as he engages and interacts with his audience. He chats and shares his life story as he sings, as if we were all his close friends. His openness and sincerity... you just flow together with the whole concert. I regret not inviting anyone...

ok... let's start from the very beginning... ...

To be frank, i dont really know this person very well... i am not one of his fans and have never heard any of his CDs... never even heard of his name until one day...
I accompanied my dad and my grandma to my gran's church. As my gran is now staying with my uncle, she goes to a different church and every Sunday, my dad will fetch her there. That day, i accompanied him.. hmmm.... that was like 2weeks, 19thNov2006.
It was a Chinese service and i extremely seldom go to Chinese services yet alone to this church, which was new to me.

Anyway, happened to that day had a special speaker... or should i say singer... he preached through songs... it was quite interesting and nice, and he had a very good voice. Initially i thought he was in his 20s because he looked very young, looked even younger than my unmarried youth pastor. Well, anyway, after the service, they were selling his concert tickets outside the chapel. My dad said that earning as a Christian singer aint easy, and was thinking of supporting him. I happily agreed as he sang really really very well... first time someone's voice captured me. What's more, he was singing Chinese Christian songs... and somehow my mother tongue always catch my attention, especially after i went to China.

i realised that i actually loved my mother tongue, it's just that i hear it too seldom... i wish my Chinese was better... i have indeed learnt to appreciate anything to do with my mother tongue.

Well, as my family of 5 is no small number, we cant buy very expensive tickets though we sincerely wish to support him, so we bought the cheapest ones, $15 each/

So last night, 30thNov2006, i went for my very first singing concert. It was fun, wonderful, exciting, lovely, captivating...well, words just cant describe the lovely time i had. He sang many songs that either describe our Jehovah or described what he did and can do... he also sang a few olden songs that he used to sing in his youth days. His singing career started when he was 17 or 18, where he joined Singapore's Chinese singing competition (cant remember the name) and got top!

Well, throughout the whole concert, he shared his life story, he joked, he engaged us, he sang... Before each song, he would explain how this song has actually touched him, and the meaning behind it, so that when he sang the songs, the songs suddenly became so in depth and you actually feel with the song... oh indeed, how great is the love of our Lord, the Jehovah.

By the end of the concert, everyone was practically shouting "ENCORE! ENCORE!" though those words were not really spoken coz i think there is no Chinese words for it but we showed it by applauding crazily non-stop, and the band got the hint, and 'helped' us.

It was a great night and i loved the songs so much that i bought 2 of his CDs, and 1 CD of his younger partner singer. It was a great night, and it was all over too soon, i wish it was longer...

All i wanted to say was...
"ENCORE!!!ENCORE!!!ENCORE!!!"
So so wished that he will have more concerts, then i can go again... but then like that, i will be broke =D
$15 was so so so worth it!!! i enjoyed it as much as the concert - "The Forbidden City", and the cheapest ticket for Forbidden City will be much more expensive than this concert... though at least i had lots of school subsidy for The Forbidden City...I regret not asking my cousins and friends along for ....
