Early in the morning we gathered as we prepared our attire,
As we ordered breakfast together, as we ate together,
After all we are a team.
As we practiced, we got nervous,
They say we lacked the determined confident face.
We took hours to get our attire right,
Worrying left and right whether it was all neat and smart.
We even walked like penguins and stood throughout the journey there,
To make sure that our attire was PERfect.
Much precaution we took in our attire.
On the journey, we shared anxiety and nervousness,
We tried to encourage each other and remind ourselves
What do we want??? What are the things to look out for???
What are the things we need to be more conscious???
Butterflies were in our stomach,
Nervousness makes us want to visit the ladies...
Inspection seemed to be ok,
We started to calm down and relax as we awaited our turn,
The moment we had been waiting and preparing for, for the last 5months.
We prayed, chat, sang songs, reminded each other,
Practiced, planned, motivate...
It was time!
We made our entrance, thinking nothing but making it through with as little faults as possible.
Paying attention to our usual mistakes,
We pushed ourselves to the limit,
Giving our fullest, even up to 200% (maybe???)
We thought none of how well we done, but whether we had made any mistakes.
1st halve was over, we awaited the next halve, the harder one...
We tried to stay alert to filter through what was given right, what was given wrong
Being nervous, yet still trying to have that determined and confident face,
To show the judges our desire to get what we wanted,
We unfortunately displayed our weakness - anticipation.
We didnt really do any wrong commands,
But we anticipated,
Which i think it's worse.
What's more, this serious mistake we made not once,
But twice, and both was when our leader wanted to give the wrong commands as instructed.
We were angry with ourselves,
We were disappointed,
We were worried,
We wondered how come the instructions given to our leader were so difficult.
Why did we showed our anticipation??? And twice!!
Why did they ask us to so something that was not in the syllabus???
Our moment had gone,
We met back with our supporters and officer.
They said our 1st halve was the best they had ever seen us do before,
That the coming in was really very impactful and very very well done.
However, in the 2nd halve, nearly everything was not good.
On the journey back, some of us couldnt control our emotions anymore,
The disappointment, the anger, the dissatisfaction,
Welled up like a volcano.
One started tear-ing, and another,
Until it spread contagiously that half of the team were in tears,
Tears of disappointment and regret, tears of hope lost.
As our leader, our supportive seniors, our officer tried to cheer us up
Commenting that it was not the end,
That our 1st halve was really quite good and impressive,
I held back my own tears of disappointment,
While others could no longer hold theirs back.
The pang of regret, the pang of disappointment
Drove deep down into the hearts of the team.
By the time we were back in school,
The whole team, besides our leader, 3others and myself, were in tears, some sobbing bitterly,
Like a deadly virus, the releasing of our disappointment had spread
We were all feeling the pain and loss as a team.
Seeing my dear friends and teammates,
The people whom i had trained so hard beside for the past 5months,
My already-dwelling-in-my-eyes tears threatened to spill.
As I comforted them, i struggled with my own bitterness,
Yet i didnt want to let my tears spill for fear the tears of the others wont stop.
The team was tear-ing, yet trying to control and stop, but to no avail.
One stops, another start, and more tears start flowing again.
Our supporters frantically trying to encourage us,
We trying to stop each other from tear-ing,
Yet ended up catching the tear virus.
No one out of the team will be able to understand how we felt seeing our hard work go to waste in such a manner.
Struggling to hold back my own tears,
Comforting others - my teammates whom i hold dear
Telling myself that i have never and will not allow myself to cry in school,
Yet, in the toilet changing,
I could hold back no longer.
I cried alone,
I cried bitterly,
I just allowed my tears to just roll down and make my face ugly.
I have tried so hard to hold back,
So many times it threatened me earlier,
Alone in the cubicle i could control no more.
I took my time, allowing my tears to flow,
Then wiped my eyes, and went out,
Pretending i'm alright.
How could i let my teammates see my tears???
Their red eyes had finally stopped producing those bitter-salty liquid.
When my friends and family asked how was the competition,
I was overwhelmed with sorrow once again,
I didnt know what to say,
I didnt want to go through the unhappy description,
I didnt want to lie,
All i answered was a repeat of my officer's compliments on our 1st halve.
At home, i 'hid' at a corner,
Crying alone yet again.
We could had gotten the distinction award with our impressive 1st halve,
But we messed up at the 2nd halve,
We were so close, yet it was gone when we made the silliest mistake, and twice - anticipation!
After much sorrow, the Holy Spirit in me prompted me,
Trust in God, where is you faith???
Dont let this mistake you'd made de-moralise you,
Dont let it kill your fighting spirit;
You still have another chance with the next item next week,
It is not over yet!
To my fellow comrades in my team,
Hear my word to you,
Dont despair, dont give up,
Dont let the devil, Satan, remind you of your mistake and pull you down.
Recognise that what is done cannot be undone, and put in our all for the next and last item.
Remember our leader,
So nice, generous, supporting, encouraging, caring, and 'sexy'.
Remember all the hard work she had put in for us,
Until the point where her studies and tests are at high risks.
For her sake, for the rest of our team's sake,
Dry up those tears and find strength in the Lord, and stay positive.
Let us keep up our energetic spirit,
Our positive and confident spirit.
Let us arise up, more determined to correct all our wrongs
To polish up our last item,
To not slack but to give our all and more.
