Just a short description...
It was rather not so nervous for me, dunno why, as compared to the previous part of the competition the week before... but somehow one of the biggest worry of ours was our timing. Becoz even in school, that morning, we still couldnt get the timing right. our PD (Precision Drill - also known as creative drill) song is already fast to begin with, however our timing keeps getting faster and faster, and out of the timing with the rhythm of the song.
Moreover, according to the experiences of our seniors who took part in the previous competitions, they say that the speakers there are unpredictable... The songs may be very soft, or no bass sound, or half way something happen... It may even have a double-echo, which will make our timing really messy. So we said that if need be, the timer will give timing so that we will be back in rhythm, but slow march MUST give.
Additionally, when we are under pressure and get nervous, we tend to get faster and faster... That's when we will go out of rhythm with the music and lose our confidence, making the whole PD look very very messy. So we were praying and praying very very hard that the music will have no problem, that we'll be able to follow the rhythm attentively, and not speed up. I was praying for peace, that the Lord will help us and grant us strength, peace, alertness, unity...
PRAISE THE LORD!!!!! The music was PERfect... better than anything we even expected or have. The music was super loud and clear, the beats very clear and obvious, there wasnt double-echo, and in the end, the timer need not give timing at all!!! Even for the slow march itself, the beat was so clear that we didnt even give timing.
NONE OF US GOT OUT OF RHYTHM THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE PD FOR THE 1ST TIME IN OUR 5MONTHS OF PRACTICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's a miracle! It was the Best PD we have ever done before... this time, even as we do it, we could sense it... although a few individual of us made some minor mistakes, as we admitted later, yet the major parts of the PD were very well done! YEA!!!
After our turn, while waiting for the other teams to finish and finally for the results, we started going 'crazy'... after all, drill competition is finally over and we have finished the race... left only the results of our hard work and effort...
We started singing lots of songs and were just very 'high' for all the tension and stress were gone... it's like we had this new found freedom.. and we were indeed behaving very extreme, happy that we had done well for our PD, according to our supporters, officers, and our sexy commander. =D
And finally for the results.............................
---------------------------------- DRUM ROLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!--------------------------------
Firstly, the COP (Certificate of Participation) will be given out, then the Bronze awards, the Silver awards, the Gold awards, and finally the SHIELD!(only goes to the best team to keep until the next competition - it's like first prize!)...
We were worried,
We were nervous,
We were recalling,
We were anxious,
We were praying,
We were hoping....
The 1st halve of the competition, though we did extremely well, yet we screwed up our im-promt-tu, which made us real upset, and probably pulled down our points a lot... So we were extremely worried and praying real hard. Becoz, our officer told us last wk, " Shield is gone already, Gold is half gone... So you need to work very very hard for your PD..." Praise God we really did well for our PD as well... Yet we were worried because of our impromttu...
"Will we at least get gold???"
As they announced the different teams/companies, we were praying real hard that they will not call out ours until very very much later. We didnt want a COP, we didnt want a bronze; we didnt even wanted a silver... we wanted at least a gold, and initially we were even aiming for shield...
As they read out several teams, many a times we held our breaths, especially when they read out the companies with numbers very similar with ours... PHEW! We didnt get COP...PHEW! We didnt get Bronze...
When they said, " And last but not least for Silver award is...----Coy (not ours)" we nearly leapt for joy but dint becoz we were in contingent, for we knew that we had gotten GOLD!!!!! Then we started to chant softly..." shield, shield, shield, shield..."
"And last but not least for Gold, we have 5thCoy..." We cheered, our supporters cheered, as our commander ran to the stage. As she was coming down from the stage, they said..." Also the shield goes to 5TH COY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" We screamed (for a very short while coz we still in contingent yet can hardly control ourselves) and some even started crying tears of joy... We were stunned, and so was our commander... later she told us that at that moment, she couldnt even believe her ears.
When we finally Fall out... WE SCREAMED AND JUMPED AND DANCED FOR JOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Praise the Lord! We made it!!!!! Although we made some mistakes in our impromtu, apparently, our quickness to respond to our mistake and still have the confident face, pulled us through, especially with the help of our FORMAT AND PD!!!!! And for the 1st time in History, PHS GB 5TH COY finally got a SHIELD and we kept up with the record of having GOLD for 5 consecutive years, i think.
ALL GLORY BE TO GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WE GOT GOLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND SHIELD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HURRAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I want to take this time also to thank one and all... everyone who has prayed for us, encouraged us, supported us, helped us, adviced us, motivated us, comforted us in our sorrows, scolded us, disciplined us, corrected us, and never gave up on us... THANK YOU OFFICERS, CHAPLAIN, OUR FANTASTIC SUPPORTIVE GRADUATED SENIORS, SENIOR TEAM, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY GHISLAINE, THE GREATEST COMMANDER AND FRIEND IN THE WHOLE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you one and all, and ... THANK YOU LORD FOR YOUR STRENGTH, FAVOUR, WISDOM, AND PEACE!!! PRAISE THE LORD!!!!!!!
