Yeah!!! Today was Ignyte PL SOF 1st outing!!!
We went prawn fishing at Bishan, then to my house for dinner, chocolate fondue and FELLOWSHIP!!!!
It was my first time prawn fishing, not including the times when i 'tried' when i was very young... so was many of us, except for Josh & his fren.I was worried, a little, about the day's event... will it go well?? will we enjoy ourselves??? will the prawn fishing part go alright??? what if it wasnt open to the public??
coz the prawn fishing at Bishan only started a month ago. although it's near my house, but i've never really taken an interest in it, and dont know anything about it - the cost, the environment, the services, etc.
then afternoon, the sky was overcast. will it rain? that'll be troublesome coz we gotta walk fr the bus stop to the prawn fishing area. praise the Lord! God knows our hearts desire. My sis was walking to school at 1.30pm and i was meeting everyone at 3pm. She was hoping it wont rain so early so she can walk to school, and i was hoping it wont rain too late coz of prawn fishing. Indeed God knows our hearts' desires. It rained! After she reached school, and before I went to meet the rest. =D
Mom intially told me it's probably $20per rod per hr... that's ex.. thank God it wasnt. It was $15 for 1hr, $25 for 2hr, $30 for 3hr. The uncle there was very good. He saw us, a group of 9, looking so lost being the first time here... he came over to talk to us, tell us which choice is the most beneficial, offering to teach us and help us, offering free usage of BBQ pit, and even top up our prawns if we catch very little... to make it worth for money. so we chose 2hr, 2 person share a rod, except one grp is 3 pple to a rod. josh&fren, asaph&alvin, nat&Syvette&Sqiuyan, mel&me...
all of us were newbies to prawn fishing, except josh n his fren. well, initially mel n i dint catch anything for about half an hr or more... well everyone, well, at least caught one... we were sitting there, chatting away. Well, i finally understood what it means by PATIENCE IS A VIRTUE. that's what i kept reminding myself. anyway out patience paid off... and in the end, mel & i caught a total of 6prawns. Not bad for a beginner lah. the rest also caught around that amount.
Prawn fishing can indeed be linked with what we do as SOF. Indeed from prawn fishing, we can learn how to fish for men, the lost souls for God. While fishing, mel & me sometimes got irritated, esp at a period of time, when we felt as if a prawn was 'playing' with us. It tugs at it, dont get caught, eats the bait a little, and escaped. We refused to give up & change the bait, though it's half-eaten. We were determined to beat the 'smart' prawn. It fooled us, 3-5 times, but in the end, we caught it. YES!
From this, I learnt that sometimes, some pple can be hard to catch, can be hard to talk to. Well, keep on trying and never give up. By God's plan, one day they will come to acknowledge the Lord. We shouldnt give up just because someone is hard to catch, for all are God's heart's desire to come to Him. Indeed, all we need to do is keep trying, and wait for God's timing... just like prawn fishing.
Secondly, "patience is a virtue" can be applied in SOF, in SALTing. While reaching out to our loved ones, to the unsaved, we got to be patient, and wait for God's perfect timing. Trying to rush is ony the waste of your energy, and zero results.
Thirdly, God can use anyone, even the beginners. Compared to the duo w prawn fishing experience, mel&me also caught about the same amount as them. *sorry... this is not to suan them*
But it's like in SOF and the SALTing ministry, a person with more 'experience' does not literally means he will become more successful. God can use anyone, even those who dont know at all what they are suppossed to do. So, whether you are younger than the rest by age, or by maturity, or spiritually, God can use you. Just relax, and trust God.
Lastly, you need friends, your fellow brothers and sisters in Christ, to help you on, motivate you, advie you, teach you, etc. Like prawn fishing, doing it alone can get rather a bore, but with someone else with you, time passes faster, the job becomes easier, and one enjoys better. That's why God created many pple, to accompany each other.
Anyway, after prawn fishing... nat got to go, the rest of us then came to my house, and not long we ate our dinnere - spaghetti with black-pepper fish or bolognese style... & potato salad for appetizer. We chit and we chat, and we pat Lucky. Then we had chocolate fondue!!!! then Spauline, who came fr work, came and joined us.
We had a great and enjoyable time together, getting to know each other better, bonding together, chitchatting, prawn fishing, makaning together, having felloship over chocolate fondue together... Praise the Lord all went well today, and i guess every single one of us really really enjoyed themselves. Praise God for the opportunity, for the good weather, for the prawns we caught, for the fun and fellowship we have, for the good food, for the socialising with one another...
anyway, i shouldnt go into much detailed post of this event... coz i very very tired... want to sleep.
cheerios then
